Who is Chef Marcello?
Chef Marcello Russodivito was born and grew up in the southern Italian region of Molise.
He studied at the Hotel School of Montecatini Terme in Tuscany and continued to perfect his culinary talents at restaurants throughout Europe, England and Bermuda for many years.
For Chef Marcello, Italian food is not just a passion, it’s a way of life.
About Marcello's career
In 1986, Marcello opened his first restaurant in Suffern, New York State where he serves his fine contemporary Italian cuisine.
In 1992, he appeared on the "Live with Regis and Kathie Lee Show" preparing his recipe for "Tiramisù".
One year later, Zagat appointed Marcello's restaurant as "One of the 50 best restaurants in the Tri-state area".
Also, "Crain's New York Business" ranked the restaurant as "One of the best Italian restaurants outside of Manhattan".
Afterwards, the American Academy of Restaurant Sciences chose "Marcello's Ristorante" for its "Best of the Best" Five Star Diamond Award as one of the top 50 Italian restaurants in the United States.
Marcello's Restaurant and his future plans
Marcello’s Restaurant has been a longtime staple in Suffern’s dining scene.
Here, he has welcomed customers from all over the world.
Recently, Chef Marcello has announced his retirement after serving community for 37 years, and therefore, Suffern Italian restaurant is about to close its doors for good.
As for what's next, Russodivito said he will continue selling his products in local stores, and do consulting for other restaurants.
Furthermore, he will concentrate on his greatest passion: organize tours of Italy and allow customers to experience the country where he was born.
