Location

Spend 8 days learning how to prepare authentic dishes alongside Chef Silvia Barban, while soaking in the relaxed atmosphere of Southerm Italy. This tour is designed for food lovers who want more than just a vacation - it's an immersive journey into the heart of Calabria through flavors, hands-on experiences and unforgettable hospitality. Hang Loose Cottage - Located in Gizzeria, overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, Hang Loose Cottage is an eco-friendly resort that blends comfort, nature and local charm. With cozy cottages surrounded by pine trees, a zero-kilometer garden and direct beach access, it's the perfect setting to relax, cook and reconnect. Whether you're here to explore Calabria's culinary roots or simply unwind by the sea, this is where authenticity meets sustainability.

ITINERARY

DAY 1
Arrival & Welcome Dinner

Arrive at Hang Loose Cottage in the afternoon.

Settle in, enjoy the sea breeze and get to know your fellow travelers.

In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner with Chef Silvia Barban featuring a seasonal Calabrian tasting menu. 

DAY 2
Cheese & Beer

After breakfast, we'll visit a local cheese maker and learn about traditional techniques.

In the afternoon, a guided tour and tasting at a craft brewery.

Lunch and dinner included.

DAY 3
'Nduja Workshop & Cooking With Silvia 

Morning workshop dedicated to 'nduja, the iconic spicy spreadable salami of Calabria.

Later, we'll shop for fresh ingredients at a local farmers market with Silvia.

Back at the cottage, enjoy a hands-on cooking session and dinner with your creations.

DAY 4
Olive Oil & Wine Tasting 

We'll visit a family-owned olive oil estate and a local winery for tastings and behind-the-scenes tours.

Relax in the afternoon with optional beach time or spa (available on site).

Lunch included

Dinner on your own to explore  the local area.

DAY 5
Fishing & Feast

Early morning departure for a fishing experience with a local fisherman.

We'll cook the catch together with Silvia and enjoy a rustic seaside lunch.

Free evening

DAY 6
Tropea & Pizzo Excursion 

Day trip to Tropea, one of Calabria's most beautiful towns - walking tour and free time to explore.

Continue to Pizzo, home of the famous Tartufo gelato and visit its charming historical center.

Group dinner in Pizzo.

DAY 7
Free Day & Cooking Farewell 

Enjoy a slow morning - free time for the beach, shopping or optional massage.

In the afternoon, join Silvia for one last cooking session, followed by our farewell dinner with wine pairings.

DAY 8
Departure 

Breakfast and check-out .

Private transfers to the airport upon request.

  1. What forms of payment do you accept?
    Cash, Credit Card, Check, PayPal.
  2. What is your cancellation policy?
    $500 non refundable deposit. (Unless noted below) 

    Payment in full is required at 30 days prior to departure REFUNDS / In the event that we must cancel a trip, you will be given a full refund of all deposits and payments.

    We do not give refunds of deposits or final payments for tours that commence as scheduled, including for unused portions of the tour. We do give credit for cancellations as noted below. 

    Cancellation policy: In the event you cancel your tour for any reason, we allow credit for payments (but not the non-refundable deposit) in the following way: 
    - 100% credit for future tours given with 90 days notice. 
    - No credit given for cancellation less than 30 days prior to start date of the tour. 

    The airport in Calabira is Called: Lamezia Terme (SUF) 

    We must reach a minimum of 12 People to have this tour. 

    If this number is not reeached we will return all monies.
  3. What document are required to travel to Italy?
    Passport (not to expire within 6months of leaving the USA), proof of vaccination.
  4. Can you accommodate gluten-free travelers on your tour?
     Yes, we accomodate gluten-free travelers
